COLUMBIA (WACH) - A man accused of robbing a Harbison area bank Monday has been arrested, according to the Columbia Police Department.
Chief Randy Scott says 22-year-old Brandon D. Washington, who is accused of robbing the Regions Bank on Columbiana Drive around 12 p.m. Monday, was arrested at the 300 block of Harbison Boulevard shortly after the robbery. Washington is charged with armed robbery.
According to Scott, witnesses told investigators the robbery suspect wore a mask, pointed an object that was believed to be a handgun at a bank clerk and demanded money. Additional witnesses saw the suspect running through a nearby retail parking lot and called police.
Authorities say no one was injured during the robbery and the stolen money was recovered near the scene.
A K9 officer saw a man matching the decription of the robbery suspect and detained Washington.
Washington was questioned at the Columbia Police Department headquarters and will be transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
