BLYTHEWOOD,SC (WACH) -- According to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety a trooper was involved in a shooting in Sumter County Saturday leaving one person dead.

Authorities said the shooting happened when a trooper stopped a car for speeding at Beckwood Road and U.S. 521.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified by the Sumter County Coroner as 24 year old Devin Taylor of Dalzell, SC.

Ofiicials said during the stop the trooper gave the driver sobriety tests.

The trooper tried to place Taylor under arrest when he resisted.

Trooper B.O. Stokes will be on administrative duties during the investigation.

The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating further.
