COLUMBIA (WACH) - A suspect is wanted in an armed robbery that occurred at a Columbia convenience store Wednesday morning, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff Leon Lott says deputies responded to to the Circle K at 7901 Garners Ferry Road around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday.
The suspect reportedly pretended to buy a bag of chips before going behind the counter, presenting a pistol and demanding money.
Lott says the suspect stole money and fled the store on foot.
The suspect is described as a person that is short in height and heavy in weight. The suspect was wearing a tan shirt, tan knit hat and blue jeans at the time of the crime.
