SALUDA COUNTY, SC (WACH) - A 75-year-old man, who recently mentioned to family members that he was considering leaving the Saluda area, has been reported as missing, according to the Saluda County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office is hoping the public can help deputies locate 75-year-old Jerry Walter Starnes, who is originally from the Woodruff area lived alone. The exact date, time and method of his departure from his home is unknown.

Starnes is described as a white male with grey hair who is 5-foot-7 and weighs approximately 165 pounds.

Authorities say he was last seen on June 28 in the 900 block of Old Chappell's Ferry Road in Saluda County. Starnes either left on foot, hitchhiked or caught a ride with someone to an unknown location.

Anyone with information on Starnes' current location or condition is asked to call the Saluda County Sheriff's Office at 1-800-922-5026.
