COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley says no deals have been signed during her meetings at an international air show, but she says the sessions are vital for attracting new business to the Palmetto State.

Haley spoke with reporters Tuesday by telephone about her visit to the Farnborough Airshow south of London, where aerospace giants Boeing Co. and Airbus are announcing large international orders.

The governor says her visit was designed to open connections with new firms and sell South Carolina as a business-friendly state.

Haley says she held about 15 back-to-back sessions with various company officials Monday. The governor says state Commerce Department officials are attending about 50 meetings with business leaders during the show. Haley is to return to South Carolina on Wednesday.
