LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WACH) - A Lexington man died Thursday night after his car was struck from behind by a pickup truck on Interstate 20.

Officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol say the 56-year-old man was driving east on I-20 near mile marker 38 Thursday around 4 p.m. when his 2005 Saturn sedan was rear-ended by a man driving a 1999 GMC pickup truck.

Coroner Harry O. Harman identified the man as Michael G. Fetner.

Harman says Fetner slowed down for unknown reasons when he was hit by the truck.

According to authorities, Fetner was taken to Lexington Medical Center in critical condition. He died Thursday evening from injuries he received in the crash. The pickup truck was driven by a 49-year-old man from Mobile. Ala. who was taken to Lexington Medial Center with minor injuries.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
