COLUMBIA S.C. (WACH) – With another 2.7 cent drop in the price of a gallon of gas, drivers in the Midlands are looking at an average of $3.04 per gallon. The national average, however, remains much higher at $3.53 a gallon. Although nationally, gas is 50 cents higher, the national average also as seen a slight reduction of 3.2 cents.
Gas in the Midlands is 25.1 cents lower than a month ago, and 30.9 cents less than a year ago.
"I have a sneaking suspicion that the election in Greece may stir up oil prices this week, and we could see oil prices gain as markets feel more upbeat about the economic situation," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. "While any gains in oil prices won't likely be immediately felt, the debt situation in Europe bears keeping a close eye on as it has far reaching global implications.”
