Fort Jackson's Naval Chaplaincy School is named for decorated veteran Stanley J. Beach.

Fort Jackson,SC (WACH, AP) - Fort Jackson's Chaplains School now bears the name of one of America's finest.
Navy chaplain Stanley J. Beach, served three branches of the armed forces with valor. Beach, served over 30 years in the Navy, was in reserve status from 1953 to 1960, then served on active duty from 1960 to 1987. He is remembered as a role model for Navy chaplains program providing ministry and pastoral care for not only the Navy, but the Marine Corps and Coast Guard as well.
While serving in Vietnam in 1966, Beach was seriously wounded while aiding Marine casualties with the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment. His decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with Valor and the Purple Heart.
Fort Jackson spokesman Pat Jones says Beach was known for his innovative programs, humanitarian efforts and leadership while he served in various levels of ministry and positions. He is considered a role model for those in the chaplaincy due to his style of ministry and talent for pastoral care.
