Deputies: Assault call ends in gunfire

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The Richland County Sheriff's Department responded to an assault call early Saturday morning that ended in gunfire.

The incident happened at 1150 Vanbolken Road.

Police say 53-year-old Arthur Stewart was arguing with someone and fired several shots in their direction.

Arthur Stewart is in custody at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

The name of the victim has not been released.

Richland County Sheriff's Department is still investigating the incident.
