COLUMBIA (WACH) - A baby boy was delivered and left at a local hospital under "Daniel's Law" Monday, according to the South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS).

DSS is referring to the healthy child as Baby Boy Doe who weighed approximately 7 pounds and 6 ounces at birth. He is now in custody of DSS.

Authorities say that a permanency planning hearing will be held in accordance with the Safe Haven for Abandoned Babies Act, also known as "Daniels Law."

The hearing will be held at the Family Court at the Lexington County Courthouse on June 20 at 1:30 p.m., according to the department. If someone wants to assert parental rights for the infant, they must do so at the hearing.
