BLUFFTON, S.C. (AP) -- The 250-pound mascot of the Bluffton High football team has been swiped and it apparently took determined thieves to do so.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports the bobcat statue was taken last week from the school's football stadium.

Football coach Ken Cribb says whoever did it must have had a truck, ladders and tools. He said the thieves would have had to jump a fence, climb atop a stadium tunnel then get through bolts and chains to lower the mascot. The statute was created by the parent of a football player.

While Cribb has reported the theft to police, he says the school is also willing to take the statue back -- no questions asked.
