Cops: Armed robbery suspect escapes with jewelry

WEST COLUMBIA (WACH) - A suspect is wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in West Columbia Wednesday, according to the West Columbia Police Department.

Chief Dennis Tyndall says the suspect entered K&M Jewelry on Meeting Street, presented a gun, and demanded jewelry.

The department describes the suspect as a male wearing a dark suit, gray hat and large black sunglasses at the time of the robbery. The suspect could be in his late 40's or early 50's. He is approximately 5-foot-7 and could weigh between 150 to 170 pounds.

According to the department, the rear window of the suspects vehicle was shot out by the storeowner. The vehicle is described as a silver mini-van.

The suspect escaped with an undisclosed amount of jewelry.
