Two people are dead after a a three-vehicle collision in Saluda Wednesday afternoon, according to the Lexington County Coroner.
LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WACH, AP) - Two people are dead after a a three-vehicle collision in Saluda Wednesday afternoon, according to the Lexington County Coroner.
Edward William Hartung, Jr., 62, of Leesville and Mieczyslaw Michae Butzich, 87, of Gilbert were pronounced dead Wednesday night after the collision, according to Coroner Harry O. Harman.
A woman was injured in the three-vehicle wreck on U.S. 378.
According to Trooper Brent Kelly with South Carolina Highway Patrol, A 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling west on US 378 toward Saluda when a 2009 Ford Focus ran a stop sign at the intersection of Shore Road. The Focus did not stop and struck the pickup truck, causing it to cross into the east bound lane. The truck then hit a 2000 Ford Mustang.
The Highway Patrol says Butzich ran a stop sign and hit a pickup truck that Hartung was driving. Hartung's truck was pushed into a car in the oncoming lane.
The woman's name and condition were not available. She was taken to Lexington Medical Center for treatment.
The incident is under investigation.
