FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) -- About 100 soldiers with an Army Reserve training unit are moving from Alabama to South Carolina's Fort Jackson and are getting a new commander.
Army spokesman Gail Anderson says Saturday's ceremony marks the move of the 1st Training Group with the 81st Regional Support Command from their main location in Birmingham, AL. The group is also welcoming its new commander, Col. John Case, in a change-of-command ceremony.
The unit provides training support and assistance, as well as the resources to conduct their missions, to U.S. Army Reserve and Army National Guard units in the southeast region. Two other Army Reserve training units are remaining in the Birmingham location.
