COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- State officials say nearly 200 candidates improperly filed financial paperwork and are being left off ballots for South Carolina's June 12 primary.

State Republicans and Democrats submitted revised candidate lists to the State Election Commission on Friday. The GOP said 87 of its candidates in Statehouse and county-level races were ineligible. State Democrats' number was 95.

The parties were ordered to produce new lists by the state Supreme Court. Earlier this week, the justices ruled that candidates who didn't file financial paperwork at the same time they filed for their candidacy could not stand for election.

At least one candidate sued to try and stop the noon Friday deadline. State Senate hopeful Amanda Somers' candidacy has been cleared by state Republicans.
