CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina police are looking for two men who donned wigs and padded shirts to look like women during two attempted armed robberies.

A Charleston police spokesman says at both a bowling alley and a nearby motel the clerks panicked and scattered when they saw handguns. Officers say no one was hurt in either incident. The robbers left empty-handed from both crime scenes.

The first attempted stick-up came just before midnight Saturday when a man who looked to be between 20 and 25 years old came into the Triangle Lanes Bowling Alley in Charleston. The second incident happened five minutes later when two men entered the lobby of the Holiday Inn Express Hotel near the bowling alley.
