ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WACH) - A man possessing items 'associated with narcotic activity' was found hiding in his mother's closet and arrested Wednesday, according to the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office.
Frederick Akeem Shuler, 22, was arrested Thursday for possessing 143 grams of marijuana, a sawed off automatic shotgun, several cell phones, and 'other items' associated with narcotic activity, according to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell.
“Investigators along with a K9 officer conducted a search warrant at a North Trail Road address on Wednesday morning. When they arrived they asked a 19-year-old where Frederick Akeem Shuler was, the 19-year-old told officers he “he was not sure where he was.” After searching the home, officers located Shuler in his mother’s closet," said Ravenell.
During the investigation, the home, along with a white Chevrolet Cavalier located in the yard of the home, were searched.
“The investigators of this agency are doing a superb job in developing solid cases and making arrests. We are continuing our efforts to improve Orangeburg County daily by removing narcotics from our streets and making it harder for those that choose to sell drugs to do business," said Ravenell.
Shuler’s bond hearing will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
