COLUMBIA (WACH, AP) - An armed robbery that occurred inside a local grocery store Wednesday morning is under investigation by the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

Deputy Curtis Wilson says the suspect entered the BI-LO at the intersection of Rabon Road and Two Notch Road around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday. He presented a pistol and took money from a cash register at the store. One shot was fired during the robbery, but the bullet hit the floor.

No injuries have been reported.

The suspect fled the scene on foot.

Deputies are searching for a man that is approximately 6-feet tall. He was last seen wearing a 'skull cap' head covering, dark pants, a blue shirt, and a dark jacket.
