The 701 Center for Contemporary Art in conjunction with The Indie Grits Festival is presenting a rare glimpse inside the working studios of top local artists and galleries.
This free, self guided driving tour allows access to the private workspace of area painters, sculptors, and artists who create in mediums including metalsmith, ceramics, photography, stonework, glassblowing, collage, printmaking, mixed media, drawing and even furniture design. You will see the inner workings of the environment in which they create their pieces, and gain a sense of their external inspirations. Looking around a private studio and seeing the works in progress, the view from a window, the well used tools, maybe a muse or a beloved pet, can add depth to a piece that one could not acquire from a typical gallery showing.
