MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) -- The South Carolina Supreme Court has suspended the law license of former Myrtle Beach Rep. Thad Viers.

Viers resigned from the House on March 21 and was indicted on charges of sexual harassment and stalking a day later.

The order Wednesday also prevents the 34-year-old Republican from accessing any accounts maintained by his law office.

His attorney, Dylan Goff, points out his client has not been disbarred and the ruling does not reflect the bar's position on whether Viers is guilty.

Goff said he could not talk about how Viers will handle the suspension because Goff is only serving as Viers' criminal attorney. Goff said they are speaking with a law firm and will likely hire another lawyer.

The charges stem from an incident last year involving Viers' ex-girlfriend.
