SUMTER, S.C. (AP) -- Funeral services are planned later this week for two children killed in a Sumter apartment fire.

Officials say services for say 10-year-old Aalyah Jackson and her 11-year-old brother, Robert, are being held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Greater Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. A community memorial service is scheduled for the apartment complex for Tuesday.

Authorities say the children died Saturday from injuries they suffered in the fire earlier in the week. Authorities say the children were at home alone when emergency officials responded.

Charged in the fire is 52-year-old Timothy Donald Dingle, a man authorities say was the boyfriend of the mother of the children. He was charged with two counts of attempted murder and first-degree arson, charges authorities say could be upgraded.
