Lexington County officers bust meth lab

LEXINGTON COUNTY (WACH) -- Officers of the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team busted a meth lab Thursday and arrested the man running it.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said officers arrested 34 year old John Robert Bittle.

Officers received a tip and went to Bittle's home where they found chemicals and equipment for making meth, said Metts.

Then after Bittle was searched officer's found an ounce of meth on him.

The meth lab was found at a home near Pine Grove Road close to Leesville, which is adjacent to Bittle's home.

 It was Bittle's second offense in manufacturing meth and 3rd offense in possessing it.

Bittle was held Saturday March 31st at the Lexington County Detention Center, and his bail was set at 75,000 dollars.

Sheriff Metts is asking anyone who has any information about illegal drug activity in Lexington County to contact the Lexington County Sheriff's Department at (803)785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
