COLUMBIA (WACH)--Thousands of walkers gather at Colonial Life Arena for the Annual Midlands Heartwalk.

Heart Disease is the nation's number one killer and is the leading cause of death in women.

The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association's premiere event.

Two winners of the Lifestyle Challenge recieved awards for making healthy changes in their lives, one losing 82 pounds the other losing 160 and has been smoke free for 5 months.

According to the American Heart Association, total donations made as of Saturday's walk amount to $347,875.

Representatives from several organizations and companies across the Midlands created t-shirts to show their support.

Survivors of Heart Disease wore red baseball caps and lead the walk up Gervais Street and through Cayce.
