COLUMBIA (WACH) - The gas leak SCE&G responded to in downtown Columbia Wednesday afternoon has been secured and repairs are in progress.

The Columbia - Richland Fire Department spokesman Brick Leweis says the leak affected the 2000 block of Marion street, which was closed between Elmwood and Calhoun Streets.

Due to the leak, three of the four south bound lanes on Elmwood Street were closed between Sumter and Bull Streets.

The Columbia Police Department is directed traffic around the area.

All street closures were lifted around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
