COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for a drunken boating crash that killed two people on another vessel on Lake Murray.

A Richland County jury found Steven Kranendonk guilty of reckless homicide Friday in the May 2010 crash. Prosecutors dropped a more serious charge of boating under the influence without explanation at the start of the trial.

Kranendonk cried so hard as he apologized to the families of the victims that he could not be heard at times.

Authorities say Kranendonk's blood-alcohol level was 0.11 percent when his boat struck the other vessel, killing 25-year-old Kelli Bullard of Lexington and 24-year-old Amber Golden of Huntsville, Ala.
