CONWAY, S.C. (WPDE) - An arraignment hearing was held Monday morning for a Coastal Carolina University basketball player who was arrested over the weekend.

Christopher Joseph Gradnigo, 22, was booked at J. Reuben Long Detention Center Sunday on Assault & Battery, Kidnapping and Burglary.

The police report says Gradnigo went into the common area of an apartment at University Place and started beating on a woman's bedroom door. The report says the woman opened the door to ask Gradnigo to leave and he pinned her down on the bed, hit her and tried to choke her.

The woman told police she threatened to activate the panic button in her bedroom and Gradnigo left.

Gradnigo was arraigned in Conway Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Monday, according to Conway Police Lt. Rodney Sessions.
