WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Faith leaders are scheduled to meet in West Columbia to discuss how to properly respond after someone commits suicide.

Mental Health America of South Carolina is sponsoring a conference entitled "Helping the Hurting: Faith Communities Response to Suicide." The meeting gets under way Friday at Midlands Technical College Airport Campus.

Organizers hope the meeting will give members of different faith communities a chance to talk about responding to suicide.

There are talks planned from officials with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the South Carolina Department of Mental Health.
