RICHLAND COUNTY (WACH) - Companies are coming together to hire soldiers and their families.

The U.S. and Columbia Chambers of Commerce are organizing Hiring Our Heroes, an event at Fort Jackson set for Tuesday (March 6).  WACH Fox is a sponsor of the event.

Organizers say companies attending the event will have positions open and be ready to hire.

One of the companies attending Hiring for Our Heroes is FN Manufacturing LLC, a company that makes guns for military and commercial use.  According to Ralph Young, VP of Human Resources, the company has a history of hiring military service members.

"We have veterans throughout the organization. Folks today not only have the educational skills that they bring with them, but they also pick up additional levels of maturity from going through the military service, which we find helpful," says Young.
