Columbia, SC-(WACH) A former worker at the Charleston International Airport gets 10 years in prison for posession of child pornography.
United States Attorney Bill Nettles saId Clyde Mitchell, 53, of Gaston, North Carolina, was sentenced today in federal court in Charleston, South Carolina, for Possession of Child Pornography. United States District Judge Richard Gergel of Charleston sentenced Mitchell to 10 years imprisonment and lifetime supervised release.
Evidence presented at the guilty plea hearing showed Mitchell,a former employee at the Charleston International Airport. In November 2010, Mitchell was interviewed by airport police after a coworker found a compact disc from Mitchell’s office that contained child pornography. Based on this report, authorities executed a search warrant was on his office and computer. During an investigation, about 2,000 images of child pornography were found on Mitchell’s computer. Mitchell was previously convicted of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and was a registered sex offender during the commission of the child pornography offense.
The case was investigated by agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Assistant United States Attorney Rhett DeHart of the Charleston office prosecuted the case.
