ORANGEBURG (WACH / AP) -- Orangeburg County deputies are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Eutawville.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says a man and woman were talking outside Strick’s One Stop on Old Number Six Highway when the man shot the woman and sped off in his pickup truck.

Coroner Samuetta Marshall says the woman was 42-year-old Anngenette Shaw of Eutawville.

According to Ravenell, the suspect drove to his house, which was next door to his mother’s house. Ravenell says the man went inside his mother’s house and kissed her before returning to his house and shooting himself in his doorway.

Officers found 53-year-old Kenneth Burch of Eutawville dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
