COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) - The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down near the Lexington / Aiken County line this afternoon.

Around 1:00 p.m. Friday, a severe thunderstorm produced a tornado that touched down near the Lexington / Aiken County lines at the intersection of  Sand Dam Road and Cline Taylor Road.  The National Weather Service arrived on scene shortly after the event to confirm the tornado did indeed touch down.

The good news news is that the severe weather threat has moved out of the Midlands.  All watches and warnings have been cancelled.
