Man dies after one-vehicle accident in Lexington

According to Coroner Harry O. Harman, James Ellis Yancey, 56, of Lexington was driving his 1984 Ford when he left the roadway and hit a utility pole.

LEXINGTON, S.C. (WACH) - The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating a one-vehicle accident that left one man dead Tuesday.

The accident occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Highway 6 and Bethany Church Road in Lexington. 

According to Coroner Harry O. Harman, James Ellis Yancey, 56, of Lexington was driving his 1984 Ford when he left the roadway and hit a utility pole.

Yancey was pronounced dead at Lexington Medical Center

An autopsy will be performed Wednesday to determine the cause and manner of death.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
