SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) - A four month undercover operation in Sumter County resulted in 12 arrests.
Investigators with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division with the assistance of the Sumter Police Department and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a four month undercover operation in the Statesburg / Wedgefield areas of Sumter County.
While executing search warrants at two locations, investigators seized approximately a half pound of marijuana valued at $1,000 and approximately eight grams of crack cocaine valued at $1,600.
Officials with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office say a man and women traveling on Interstate 95 South were stopped after a traffic offense. The two gave consent to a search of their vehicle and during that search a quantity of Cocaine was found on their person.
During an inventory search of the vehicle, approximately $215,000 in cash was found concealed inside the rear hatchback door. The money was placed in an interest bearing account pending forfeiture proceedings.
Officers seized approximately 13 grams of cocaine valued at $1,300. and approximately two grams of marijuana valued at $20 from the vehicle stop.
