COLUMBIA (WACH)- Governor Nikki Haley says the SC Senate needs to stay in session until an amendment paving the way for a bill creating a Department of Administration is passed.
At a press conference held Tuesday afternoon, Governor Nikki Haley said, “I want to thank the 36 senators who listened to the will of the people and voted in favor of this amendment – and specifically Sen. Tom Davis, Sen. Shane Massey, Sen. Vincent Sheheen and Senate Majority Leader Harvey Peeler, who did a tremendous amount of work to lay the foundation for a meaningful Department of Administration. Tomorrow’s task is to keep the ball moving forward – this is just one of many issues we need to address this session."
Senator Vincent Sheheen, who sponsored the amendment, said, "I have spent five years pushing these reforms and am excited that we will make changes major changes this year. Whether it happens today or next week isn't as important as the final result. I welcome and appreciate the Governor's support."
