PETA wants Governor's pigeon shoot called off.

Ehrhardt, SC (WACH) The animal rights group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is calling for the Bamberg County Sheriff's office to intervene and stop the shoot. PETA sent a letter to law-enforcement officials urging them to order the club to cease and desist from holding the event, possibly through a formal injunction.
In the letter, PETA said South Carolina law prohibits inflicting "unnecessary pain or suffering upon any animal" and that pigeon shoots—in which birds are typically trapped in urban areas, transported to the events, and launched into the air and shot at—do not qualify for a "wildlife management" exemption.
WACH FOX contated second circuit solicitor Paul Thurmond for comment, but as of 5:00 pm Tuesday our inquiry had not been answered.
