COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Veteran black journalist and author Charlayne Hunter-Gault is visiting the University of South Carolina to discuss her experiences during the nation's civil rights movement.
Hunter-Gault, who was the first black woman to enroll at the University of Georgia in 1961, is scheduled to speak Tuesday in a dialogue on leadership with USC president Harris Pastides in the Law School auditorium.
She is also set to sign copies of her book on the role college students played in the civil rights movement
Hunter-Gault has spent more than 40 years working as a journalist with major media organizations.
