ORANGEBURG (WACH) – The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office says human remains were discovered Saturday morning in a wooded area off Five Chop road in Orangeburg.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says “a hunter located the remains Saturday morning and contacted the Sheriff’s office. The remains of an african-american male are badly decomposed and even after an autopsy we have not been able to identify him.”

Sheriff Ravenell says over the next few days investigators from his department will contact other agencies in an effort to generate leads on the identity of the deceased individual.
