FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) -- The Army's largest training installation is holding a celebration of the work of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Army spokesman Pat Jones says a luncheon is scheduled for Friday. Slated to speak at the ceremony is Pamela Wilson, the first female president of Columbia's Allen University, a historically black college.

Jones says Wilson's remarks will address the issues of forward thinking that King fought to achieve. The Army and the Navy were the first segments of the armed forces to desegregate in 1946.

The theme for the luncheon is "Remember, Celebrate, Act!" and is meant to remind those attending to remember King's legacy, but also act to keep it alive.
