COLUMBIA (WACH)—Gas in the Midlands has gone up at a faster pace than the national level over the last week, with a 1.2 cent rise to an average of $3.20 per gallon.  The national level rose 1.1 cents per gallon to $3.34, according to www.ColumbiaGasPrices.com.

Gas prices are 27.8 cents higher than they were a year ago, and 17.2 cents higher than a month ago, according to the website, which is slightly higher than the national change of 27.2 observed last year.

GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan says "Gasoline prices have slowed their rise in the last week as oil prices have temporarily stabilized,” however, points out that the stabilization may not last long as tensions in Iran continue to grow.
