COLUMBIA, S.C. -- It was a special anniversary for the South Carolina Lottery.

The state lottery celebrated 10 years of providing a positive impact to the South Carolina Friday on Main Street. Even more impressive, the lottery has been keeping its promise in supporting education. The General Assembly has put in $2.8 in supporting education; including $2.1 for higher educational programs.

$63 million have been spent on community education programs including funding for county libraries and programs to fight drug, alcohol, and gambling addiction.

Chairman Tim Madden said he expects it to continue in the future.

"The next generation of South Carolinians and that after will continue to benefit from this investment. We're proud of what this crowd has done to date. We're proud of this state and we appreciate all that you all have done to be a part of that success."
