Afghanistan (WACH)- A South Carolina soldier was killed in Afghanistan.

PFC Justin Whitmire, originally from Easley, was deployed from Fort Hood, Texas. He was working with his unit, the 720th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade, Fort Hood Texas.

He died Dec. 27, in Paktia, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their unit with an improvised explosive device.
