SCE&G workers feeding needy families

COLUMBIA (WACH/AP)--South Carolina Electric & Gas Company workers are distributing hundreds of holiday baskets to needy families in the Lowcountry.

Tuesday, workers will distribute 250 food baskets as a part of the company's Good Neighbor Fund Christmas Project.

In all, 850 baskets are being distributed to the needy in the two Carolinas during the holidays.

The Good Neighbor Fund is financed by donations from company workers and retirees.

Since 1983, the fund has assisted more than 10,000 families with donations of more than $3.2 million.
