COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Looks like there will be another fight on federal education money in South Carolina.

The State newspaper reported Tuesday that state Education Superintendent Mick Zais says he will not give the state board of education a report on money available from the federal government and private groups.

The board has told Zais to let them know each month what money is available and whether he is pursuing it.

Zais turned down millions of dollars in federal education money this summer, saying there were too many strings attached.

The Republican says the school board doesn't have the authority to require him to provide such a report.

The school board chair says she may seek an attorney general's opinion if Zais does not provide the report this month.
