COLUMBIA (WACH)-- The South Carolina Gamecocks are heading to the 2012 Capital One Bowl.

USC (10-2) will take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers (9-3) from the Big Ten Conference, January 2 at Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando.

"It's an opportunity to play in a prestigious bowl," said USC head coach Steve Spurrier.  "It's ranked right there with one of the very best bowls in the country.  We got a lot to play for, going for that 11th win, and a shot at being the winningest team in school history."

The game will kick off at 1pm and will be nationally televised by ESPN.

The meeting will be the first between the two schools since 1987 and the first ever in the postseason. Nebraska holds a 3-0 lead in the all-time series.

This will be USC’s first trip to the Capital One Bowl.

The South Carolina Athletics Ticket Office is taking requests for the 2012 Capital One Bowl until Tuesday Dec. 6, 2011 at 5 pm.  All tickets are priced at $87 each. Any remaining seats will go on sale to the general public at a later date.

All requests taken from Sunday Dec. 4 until Tuesday, Dec. 6 will be filled after any requests submitted by the priority deadline of November 14.
