LEXINGTON (WACH)-- Lexington County deputies have arrested a 42-year-old Leesville man who’s accused of killing his nephew early Sunday morning.

Investigators say Juan Perez-Jeronimo stabbed Diego Alonzo in a house at 5270 Two Notch Road, where the two men rented separated bedrooms.

According to authorities, the stabbing appears to be related to a financial dispute between the two.

Sheriff James Metts says Perez-Jeronimo is in the country illegally. Metts says specially trained corrections officers at the county detention center determined Perez-Jeronimo was born in Guatemala. The correctional officers placed a detainer of Perez-Jeronimo with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

After the stabbing, investigators say Perez-Jeronimo ran from the house. A K-9 unit tracked him down. Officials say the dog apprehended him by biting his leg.
