CHARLESTON (AP) -- The attorney general's office says it will wait until police investigations are completed before it steps into the case of a sex abuse case at The Citadel.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Tuesday that the attorney general's office had responded to the school's request that an independent counsel be appointed to review the case of a man accused of child molestation.

The military school wanted a review its handling of a 2007 complaint from a teen who accused Louis ReVille of watching porn and masturbating with boys at The Citadel's summer camp.

The school had investigated the complaint on its own without notifying police, and took no action.

At least four local police departments are investigating ReVille. Mount Pleasant police have filed charges against him.
