COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The Lexington Police Department has kicked off its Toys for Tots campaign.

Officers will set up collection stations twice a week at the Kmart and Wal-Mart stores in the town.
They will take donations from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.  Toy donations can also be made at the police department.

Officers are hoping this year's event will be just as successful as last year's. “It was really a big event last year. We started the week before Thanksgiving and we had our van so packed that when we opened the doors toys were falling out, so it was very successful,” said officer Doug Lee

All of the toys collected locally will be given away to local kids.
