COLUMBIA S.C. (WACH) -- The Tri City Senior Center in West Columbia held their first art show for seniors Monday.
Senior citizens between the ages of 70 and 94 entered over 200 pieces of art.
Community relations specialist Margo Wingard says, "A lot of our seniors have talent that people don't see, and also they seem to get a little depressed when it becomes the holiday season. This gets them out and gives them ideas. We want more seniors to get encouraged so that they will not sit at home and do nothing, but get busy and keep going with their life."
Gail Hartranft a participant with arthtitis entered many pieces, and her blanket won a second place ribbon.
People can be placed in a drawing to win pieces from the art show such as Hartranft's blanket, and proceeds from the drawings are then donated to meals on wheels to help feed homebound seniors.
