COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Mayor Steve Benjamin and the Babcock Center presented the City’s official Christmas ornament for 2011. This year’s ornament recognizes the 225th birthday of Columbia.
“The Babcock Christmas Ornament is about making a difference in the lives of some of our most vulnerable residents,” commented Mayor Benjamin. “I encourage everyone to join me in celebrating our city’s oldest traditions of family and community, and help realize the hopes and dreams of so many living with disabilities in Columbia and throughout the Midlands region by purchasing one of these beautiful ornaments.”
The ornament costs $13.50 and can be purchased at the Babcock Center Foundation Office, located at 2725 Banny Jones Ave, West Columbia, South Carolina or by telephone at (803) 799-1970, ext. 112. All proceeds from the sale of the ornaments will go to the Babcock Center. The Babcock Center is a non-profit that serves more than 1,000 adults with mental retardation, autism, brain or spinal cord injuries and related disabilities.
This year marks the 19th annual Babcock ornament unveiling.
