LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) -- A Lancaster County sheriff's deputy has been shot and wounded during a robbery.

Deputies took a suspect into custody early Friday.

Officials say the deputy was shot three times during a robbery at a restaurant just outside Lancaster around 7 p.m. Thursday. He was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., for treatment. There was no immediate word on the officer's condition.

The deputy's name has not been released.

Officials have not released the name of the suspect.

The State Law Enforcement Division is assisting in the investigation.
